Christian writers around the UK are awaiting the nominations for this year’s Young Christian Writer Awards. The ceremony in April will be the fifth year of this award. Jennifer AbubakarChiumbo is 30 and lives in southern England, near her parents. During the day, she preaches along sider father, but when she is not doing that, Jenifer writes Christian based fiction. Her entry to the awards this year is an inspirational novella and she will read an excerpt from it at the ceremony.
Jenifer’s writing career was inspired by her father, Dennis Williams. He is a preacher who has spread the gospel in twelve countries around the globe. His travels have taken him from the Congo, to the USA, Belgium, Spain, Mexico and parts of northern Europe. Always at his side are his wife and only daughter, Jenifer.
Jenifer says,“I also preach but prefer to spread the word of the Lord through writing. My fiction has a deep moral message, to young people. Following the ways of the devil will lead them to a life of misery. I show them that the Lord will be their only saviour but, I try to be subtle through use of language and prose, rather than blatant preaching in my books.” Her writing and research, alongside her missionary work, have helped her forge an interest in helping African communities in large inner cities. The winner gets a book deal with a major publishing company and a cash prize of ten thousand pounds. Jenifer states, “My writing is the best way for me to express myself and my beliefs. I love the work I do, both in preaching the Word and writing in His name, to guide young people on the path of righteousness.”
